I married in the early 1980s but lost my husband seven years ago. We had no children. I have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. I depended on farm work as my means of livelihood. I grew cassava (a root vegetable similar to a potato), processed it to make garri (a flour), and sold it on market days. I lost an eye one day while working on the farm. I was trying to cut down a tree when a branch snapped back and struck me in the eye. I am hypertensive and require regular medicine but don’t have the means to purchase it. I know God will remember me one day.
Hands 4Life does so much to care for grandparents. For example, we provide education about dementia, food for the abandoned and neglected and healthcare for those in need. Hands 4Life is changing the way the world views the grandparent generation.
